WKIP Part 2: Oostende geeft sjette!!

WOW! The very first WKIP day in Oostende took place yesterday and it was a HUGE success!! First of all, and I'm sure I speak for everyone, thanks to Rozemie and Rebecca for all their hard work, enthusiasm and thoughfulness in organising everything so brilliantly. Ladies - we applaud you! We had great weather (more or less, at least it didn't rain) and managed to create quite a stir - I think we were all amazed at the number of people who came to say hello and have a look at our work. Speaking of work, a particular highlight was Rozemie's sister's scarf (shown above). Knitted in kidsilk haze (or an equivalent fine thread), Rozemie's sister had felted little circles of pure wool onto the surface. Ripples of excitement and wonder spread through the crowd as it was unveiled. Last, but not least, the children had fun, especially Nell, Jolien and Leonie who spent the afternoon crocheting bracelets (as well as feeding the ducks and tearing around the park on their scooters and bikes). Articles about the event have appeared in the Zeewacht and Het Nieuwsblad http://www.nieuwsblad.be/article/detail.aspx?articleid=DMF20120617_00188253
