The Belgians at Bozar and a glass of rosé

A summer 'dag uitstapje' to Brussels to see 'The Belgians' fashion exhibition. We caught the 9.40 train from Ostend, meeting up with Patricia from Ghent on the same train, and Jan in Brussels Central. After a fantastic time in the exhibtion, we sat in the park by the National Library, on the Mont des Arts: we ate delicious salads from a tiny shop Carine recommended, knitted, chatted and rounded the day off with a glass of rosé from the bar in the park. Where to next? The 'Paul Smith' exhibition in Hasselt? Barbara, we missed you!!!!

We had a great get together at the Villa Elise at the beginning of the month (thanks Ines!). There were countless folk and lots of new faces, Ines and I had finished our Keith Moon sweaters, and not only that, Ines had also finished a cable knit jumper for her husband and a Stephen West shawl. Flea market finds

How lovely is this? Another postcard found on my travels. This work of art is made from flea market pot holders - you know, those little crochet circles that people love to make, but seem easy to discard. This artist, Anu Tuominen, started collecting pot holders in 1995 and, in 2005, had enough to make this work of art entitled 'Real Colour Circles'. I love it!

Birthdays and breien

As Jan pointed out: it's Barbara's turn to celebrate! She keeps such good track of all the important milestones in the club's evolution (our resident archivist and historian), that we couldn't let her own birthday pass without a glass of cava and a piece of cake! And I couldn't resist incuding, alongside the birthday girl herself, a picture of Rozemie's marvellous scarf. These photographs were taken at the last meeting, and it's hard to believe that it was a month ago - the time just flies! Our next meeting? Sunday 1 March from 14.00 to 18.00 in the Droge Coo. See you there!

Jackets

Two different and utterly stylish approaches to keeping warm this winter. Barbara is modelling the most amazing Lopi jacket. Don't know what Lopi is? It's the wool from Icelandic sheep. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lopi. Knitted in a gorgeous, soft brown wool, with a yoke motif in slightly glittery gold, it's an absolute dream. And suits Barbara down to a T! Lucky Barbara was able to purchase it direct from the maker for a very good price - what a find and what a steal! And Rozemie unpicked the sleeves from her jacket, opened them out flat and knitted new ones to size. Once inserted she had a brand new look that's both distinctive and original. Genius!
