Happy Birthday to us!

Just a few snaps of last Sunday's mega 5th birthday party! The atmosphere was amazing thanks, of course, to our dear friends at the Coo and all of you... a big thank you to all our friends far and near (in Oostende, Brugge, Ghent, Hasselt and further afield) for being there, to everyone who crocheted and knitted bunting and other lovely decorations, to the staff of the Coo (Hendrik, Sarah, Bob and all the volunteers) for supporting our venture these past five years and for the fabulous cake and cava, to DJ Bravo for the groovy tunes and for being such a winning MC, to the brave souls who crafted swants and the even braver souls who modelled them (not to mention the kids), to Oxfam for donating the sweaters, to Rebecca for sponsoring the 1st prize in the swants comp and for bringing her glorious yarns with her and to Sylvia for capturing our antics on film... I could go on and on. Have I forgotten anyone or anything?! I hope not! Watch these space for further updates and photos, or even a film.... who'd have thought half a decade could pass so quickly? The final countdown

Many marathon bunting-making sessions (including at the last meeting in the Villa Elise, above, click photos to enlarge), hilarious swants-crafting evenings and lots of laughs later and we are almost ready. DJ Bravo has the tunes, the cakes are being baked, the cava is on ice and the models are grooming themselves for their catwalk debut... ladies and gentlemen, the brei club's mega 5th birthday part is on the tracks and JUST ONE DAY AWAY! See you there!

Congratulations!!!!!

Hi everyone! It's feels like a long time since I wrote a post, and even longer since I was at the brei club, but it's great to be back behind the Blogger dashboard. The meeting in the Villa Elise on Sunday was lovely and I've got loads of great photos to share with you. But before I do, I'll let you into a little secret... it's not just Breien in Oostende with something to celebrate. You've no doubt heard that it's our 5th birthday in February. Well, there are two people in the club who've been together for a lot longer: Jan and Marie Therese have been married for 17 years this month! Isn't that wonderful? Three cheers to them! And what better way to mark the occasion than to post photos of Jan's marvellous entre lac... And before I sign off, let me add that I've always thought that the knitting club is about people as much as it is projects. Which is why it's a joy to celebrate Jan and Marie Therese's happiness. But there's someone else who also deserves a mention, and that's Barbara. Here's to you Barbara for all you've done, will continue to do and, above all, for picking up the pieces and keeping the blog and our Facebook page up do date. Thank you!
